Morehouse’s Comet

Morehouse's Comet, Yerkes Observatory. (c.1920)

Morehouse’s Comet, or C/1908 R1, was discovered by Daniel Walter Morehouse and first observed on September 1, 1908. This image, now part of the Rothman Slide Collection, was originally taken at the Yerkes Observatory in Wisconsin sometime in 1908.  If this comet ever makes another pass through Earth’s skies, it won’t be for millions of years.
